Ethical Trade Policy

Purpose of This Ethical Trade Policy

At Coleman Douglas Pearls we believe strongly in ethical principles.
We are proud to trade in accordance with the Base Code of the Ethical Trade Initiative.

This code states:

• Employment is freely chosen
• Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected
• Working conditions are safe and hygienic
• Child labour shall not be used
• Wages are fair and comparable to industry standards
• Working hours are not excessive
• No discrimination is practised
• Regular employment is provided
• No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed

We will ensure adherence to and awareness of these principles by:

• Communicating our code of conduct clearly to our suppliers and the people who work for us
• Conducting assessments of working conditions at our site against our code of conduct
• Working collaboratively with suppliers and positively engaging with the people in our supply chain to overcome issues and ensure the continuous improvement of working conditions
• Ensuring that our code of conduct is understood by our buying team, is integrated into our procurement practices, and our own purchasing practices do not encourage breaches of the code
• Ensuring a sound understanding of our code and our Ethical Trade programme throughout the business
