Black Freshwater Pearl & Sapphire Victorian 'Globe' Pin

A Victorian black freshwater pearl & sapphire ‘globe’ tie pin. A 5 mm black freshwater pearl lies suspended on top of concentric spirals of 9ct yellow gold, like the sun at the centre of the universe. The 9ct gold stem is also embellished with a deep blue sapphire, 2.5 mm in width. 

This pendant is a wonderful reflection of early 20th Century jewellery which was designed to be eye-catching, but less dramatic than earlier styles. The sparkling dark blue sapphire is wonderfully complimentary of the dark and stormy black freshwater pearl, both stones catch the light beautifully.
